Brief
Statoes is the first physical retail space of an existing lifestyle brand with the tagline “stay fly.” The interior is designed and built by *adsafkjl, the project required creating a functional and expressive interior while retaining most of the unit’s existing conditions. The brief emphasized keeping the open ceiling with exposed slabs and beams, integrating storage, and establishing a clear point-of-sale and selling area. The space needed to support both daily transactions and brand visibility as a pioneer store.
Strategy
The L-shaped unit was organized by assigning the shorter leg of the plan as storage, allowing the longer axis to function as the primary retail experience. A main counter was positioned adjacent to the storage door to support efficient operations and staff movement. The left-side wall was dedicated to shoe displays, while a full-height mirror at the end of the space visually extended the merchandise area. Wood-accented displays were introduced for t-shirts and on-sale items, providing warmth against the raw architectural backdrop. Central island benches and display counters were added to highlight limited and high-end items while encouraging customer interaction within the space.
Reflection
Statoes demonstrates how brand identity can be interpreted spatially without over-designing. The project reinforced the importance of clarity in small retail interiors—where layout, flow, and hierarchy directly affect both customer experience and operations. As one of the first design-and-build interior projects of *adsafkjl, it marked a foundational step in translating brand principles into built form with confidence and restraint.
