Brief

Abell Road Interiors began with a simple question: how does a Filipino build a sense of home in Sydney? The project reflects the clients’ roots, values, and daily rhythms, shaped by their experiences, routines, and lessons from their previous home.

The brief called for a dog-friendly, vegan household with a work-from-home setup, supporting an active lifestyle while offering moments of rest and retreat.

Strategy

The design focused on balance — between movement and recovery, work and rest. Spaces were organized to support daily routines, with clear transitions between active zones and quieter areas for focus and downtime.

Designed within a Sekisui House residence, the interiors were carefully adapted to soften and personalize the home. Material choices, layout adjustments, and spatial flow were guided by a desire to evoke a relaxed, provincial sensibility within an urban Sydney context.

Reflection

This project became an exploration of lifestyle as a design driver. More than an interior fit-out, it was an exercise in translating identity, routine, and care into a calm, lived-in environment.

Abell Road Interiors reflects our belief that a home should support how people move, work, and recover — quietly, and without excess.
