A humble family home, carefully planned from street to veranda. Spaces are arranged to support light, flow, and daily life within a limited footprint.

Brief

Chase North is a compact residential project in Minglanilla, Cebu, set within a small subdivision of six lots. The 150-square-meter site was defined by its modest scale and an existing firewall along one side.

The client was based in the United States, with local coordination handled in Cebu. The brief called for a three-bedroom home within a limited floor area, including shared and private toilets, a single parking space, and a generous front veranda.

Strategy

The house was planned with clarity and efficiency in mind. Three bedrooms were arranged in an L-configuration to define private spaces and allow light to enter the plan, while an open living, dining, and kitchen area formed a linear sequence from the veranda inward.

With the client overseas and the project developed pre-pandemic, the process relied on clear visual communication through diagrams, mood boards, and perspectives. The architecture remained restrained, using simple roof forms, minimal openings, and large sliding doors to support a calm, cohesive user experience.

Reflection

Chase North is one of our early projects that continues to resonate with us. Its strength lies in clear communication and careful planning, proving that a modest footprint can still support a functional and generous home.

The project is currently under partial construction, and we look forward to seeing it realized fully.
